My name is Sin Yan (Jianne) Lo. I am a licensed and board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. I offer psychiatric evaluation, therapy, and medication management services via telehealth for NY residents in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
I treat a wide range of conditions but the most common include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, women’s mental health, life transitions, and relationship concerns.
My style is collaborative and holistic. I believe you are the expert of your experience, and I am here to assist you in feeling more at ease with whatever is going on. We may not be able to fix everything, but I will provide a safe and supportive space for you to better understand yourself and the world around you.
My approach to mental well-being focuses a lot on your relationships, cultural and societal factors, and how to be mindful of everything that’s affecting you. I believe when you are more aware of what’s going on, you can decide what changes you might want to make.
I was trained at the Yale School of Nursing. I have experience working in community clinics, hospitals, a crisis center, and a homeless shelter.
Besides my private practice, I also provide clinical supervision for nurse practitioner students from NYU and Columbia, and I am a contributing writer for The Carlat Psychiatry Report.
I look forward to getting to know you!
For all new clients we will start with a 15 minute, free phone consultation. We will get to know each other a bit and see if we are a good fit. Schedule your free 15-minute consultation.
Before we start working together it’s important for me to know more about you. We will spend 45 minutes together to learn about your concerns, history with past treatment (if any), and your general biological and life history.
When I get a better idea of what’s going on and what you are looking for, we can plan your treatment together.
Therapy usually lasts for 45 mins each time. Most clients like to meet weekly. During each therapy session we will address your concerns from different approaches, with the goal to make you feel more at ease. But the process can be challenging and scary, so I strive to provide a safe and supportive space for you to do this important work together with me.
When we think medications are appropriate for your treatment, we will discuss different options and see what can meet your needs the best. I usually pair medication management with therapy because I believe they complement each other. However if you are already seeing another therapist, we have the option to focus on only medication management too.
Note: For new clients, I am no longer prescribing controlled substances including benzodiazepines and stimulants.
I am in network for Aetna, Cigna, Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, Oscar Health, Oxford, and United Healthcare.
